Subj: Telephone House - Asbestos work on site TODAY
Date: 01/10/2002
To: ruth.chambers@tunbridgewells.gov.uk, nigel.eveleigh@tunbridgewells.gov.uk

Good morning,

Several people signalled that on Telephone House Church Road side, a specialist van and a trailer are standing in the forecourt and workmen are present in white overalls in the building. The suspicion is that they deal with asbestos.

Windows are not sealed, the front entrance is wide open.

- Why are these works, as part of the refused Work Scheme, started as of this morning?
- Were they authorised?
- By Whom?

Thanks, for keeping in touch
For Telephone House Neighbours Association, Daniel Bech.

02.10.02 - Letter from TWBC Planning and Building Control Services, Nigel Eveleigh
"CALA Homes have confirmed, that what is being removed comprises asbestos from the redundant heating system (lagging and pipework). This operation does not, in my view, constitute 'demolition' and it does not, therefore, require approval under the 'Scheme of Works'."

What was removed from Telephone House, Tunbridge Wells, in February 2002 ?
