28.10.02 - Letter to the Planning Department, TWBC - Patricia Lobo

28 October 2002

Dear Mr Eveleigh

I am now aware of the second scheme of works submitted by CALA Homes.

Following the Public Enquiry I understood that it had been established that all heavy traffic movements would take place to and from Church Road. Indeed the developer's argument was that it would take up to two years precisely because they were unable to use York Road.

I was horrified to discover that it is proposed to put a crane actually in the roadway -presumably outside my house, and therefore would oppose this strongly.

People on York Road are worried about damage to buildings, foundations, cellars, pathways and gardens by heavy loaded vehicles (my house is grade II listed). CALA Homes do not seem to have made any arrangements to safeguard our homes. Do you have the power to see that they do ?

Parking arrangements are already stretched to the limit on York Road: It is proposed to suspend parking for two years, from Nos. 30 - 42. What alternative parking will be provided ? The proposed restriction is not satisfactory.

Would you please oppose these movements and restrictions ? The period of construction will be very unpleasant for all of us who live near the site, but the proposed heavy traffic on York Road - not to mention the possibility of a crane, will make life very difficult.

Please oppose this schedule of works.

Yours sincerely
Patricia Lobo

Objections to CALA Homes' Second Scheme of Works for the Telephone House Development

Is CALA really going ahead with THAT scheme?
