Are CALA Homes "regenerating" the Pantiles Area in Tunbridge Wells, too ?
CONSTRUCTION OF NOLKFOLK GRANGE
The Telephone House Estate, Church Road / York Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent
A keen observer informed the Telephone House Neighbours Association about the advertisement which hangs at bus shelters close to the Town Hall.
We told him the ad as such is to be commended over the ghastly poles and boardings that they had wanted to erect in Church Road and York Road.
If CALA Homes do not mean to convert The Pantiles into a Development, but only mean to use The Pantiles with its picturesque setting as a scenario for the sales brochure of their high density development in Church Road:
Why did CALA Homes fail to seize the opportunity to reinstate Decimus Burton's historic landmark: the Trinity Church ?
Why did CALA Homes chop the trees so “RadiCALA” and kill off the friendly tree-lined image of York Road ?
Why do CALA Homes choose not to show their future clients the views that they will enjoy on their Norfolk Grange development ?
The views for the part in York Road are the dinner tables of their neighbours opposite at 12 metres distance,
the views within the development are overlooking windows at around 6-8 metres, and
the views on Church Road will be trucks and Europa House / Wellington Gate, which was described by the planners as “grotesquely ugly”.
Why did they not acquire the Union Square which is adjacent to The Pantiles ?
The building at the Union Square has much resemblance to the now demolished Telephone House in Church Road.
When can we expect phase II of CALA Homes Norfolk Grange advertising campaign ?
February 2003 - After 40 years, open views towards Decimus Burton's landmark, Trintiy Church
- only for a short time ! - CALA Homes fail to seize the opportunity to reinstate the historic landmark.
