Dudley Road is a typical example of Victorian town cramming. Problems increased when the multi-coloured townhouses were converted into multiple-occupation dwellings, bedsits or flats during the 1980s. In the rear Dudley Road is separated only by a small alley from York Road and Limehill Road respectively. Houses in Dudley Road have little privacy. Flats have generally a rapid turnover and of course car parking is the prominent problem.
