The futile response which took Tunbridge Wells Borough Council 5 months

TUNBRIDGE WELLS BOROUGH COUNCIL
Planning and Building Control Services
Town Hall, Royal Tunbridge Wells, TN1 1RS

6 April 2001

Dear Ms. Topliss

TRAFFIC ISSUES ON CONNECTION WITH TELEPHONE HOUSE REDEVELOPMENT, CHURCH ROAD

I am very sorry for the long delay in replying more fully following my letter of 6 December 2000.

Unfortunately I have been absent on extended sick leave following an accident. I have now had the opportunity of discussing with the case officer the progress we are making with our preparations for the forthcoming Public Inquiry. I understand that further meetings have also been held with my officers following the meeting we had in my office in January.

The Borough Council is currently preparing a Draft Transportation Strategy, which will be published in the early summer in conjunction with the Draft Local Plan Review. A number of traffic studies have already been carried out as a basis for those documents. The Borough Council is not in a position to commission further studies at this stage. It is intended that the Transportation Strategy, together with the Draft Local Plan, will be the subject of extensive public consultation and clearly this will provide an important opportunity for local residents and other interested groups to comment on the Council's proposals and its ideas for the Town Centre.

Yours sincerely
Nigel Eveleigh
