The Trees in York Road between Trinity House and No. 27 York Road, Tunbridge Wells

The street line and building line of York Road southside

The architects to the developers and the officers of TWBC want to restore a traditional and continuous building line on the southside of York Road.
The residents do not see it this way. - The bold lines are the present settings of houses.

The recessed smaller houses at Nos. 31-41 contribute in a charming way to the streetscene.
This street design looks far more interesting than the straight-on-to-the-pavement building line approach by the planners.

Of course the setting of these healthy and mature trees behind a crumbling and vandalised wooden fence does not show up their total value.
We get a hint from the Conservation Area Appraisal how nice it could look, if the fence were adopted in line with the commended ironcast fence of Trinity House.
